Survivor Outreach Services, Friends of Army Aviation Host Heritage Day for Gold Star Families
Survivor Outreach Services partnered with the Friends of Army Aviation (FOAA) on August 1st to host an interactive aviation day in Ozark, Alabama, for Gold Star families. During the event, children and family members explored a UH-1 Huey static display and rotated through hands-on learning stations focused on pilot duties, aircraft maintenance, safety, and flight gear. The initiative stemmed from a request by Gold Star families for aviation-focused activities, which FOAA’s retired military aviators and civilian volunteers enthusiastically designed and supported. Ultimately, the day provided a meaningful space for families to connect with Army heritage, with organizers noting that the highlight of the event was the visible joy and smiles on the children's faces.
