NORMASH: Norway's Legacy of Care on the Korean Peninsula
In response to U.N. Resolution 83, the Norwegian Parliament approved a plan to establish a 60-bed Norwegian Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, or NORMASH, to support U.N. forces in Korea. NORMASH deployed in May 1951 and began frontline operations at Uijeongbu on July 19, 1951. It later relocated farther north to Dongducheon.
